Congressional Internship

"The Life and Lies of a Capitol Hill Staffer" is the theme I wanted for my field notes during my internship with the US House of Representatives. Upon saying it out loud, though, I realized that detailing and publishing online (what I then perceived as) the morally ambiguous workings of Hill staffers was not one of my brightest ideas. Instead, I spent my time in DC seizing the truly unique opportunity to explore the inner workings of the legislative branch, and learning as much as possible. Not that I didn't have fun along the way. I went to as many museums and memorials as I could, yet even at the end of three months, I was nowhere near ready to leave. I will forever be grateful to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute for funding my internship. The experiences I had during those three months, the people I met, the perspectives I gained, they have all continued to mold the person I am now and the career and personal choices I met in the future.
